I recommend starting with a curved barbell. In my opinion, this jewelry style allows the piercing to heal quicker than a captive bead ring, because less weight & motion act against the freshly pierced tissue. You can change the ball on the curved barbell to something gemmed if you want to bling it up a bit as well!
